Kamille “Cupcake” Mckinney (3) gained her sweet nickname before she was ever swaddled in a hospital blanket. Her mother, April Thomas, found out she was pregnant with a little girl and immediately started referring to her as a little Cupcake girl.

Once she was born, her prominently-round, brown eyes, adorably full cheeks, and contagious smile perfectly aligned with her cute nickname. Her hair was always intricately styled with colorful clips and bows while her clothing represented a teeny yet mighty girly girl.

On October 12th, 2019, April traveled to her cousin’s home and let Cupcake wander over to her cousin to play — a child super close in age to her. The adults got lost in a conversation until sunset while the children stayed outside. When Cupcake’s older brother entered the house alone, he was directed to retrieve his little sister from outside so they could head home soon.

April attempted to wrap up her conversation with her cousin with a warm goodbye as her son looked for Cupcake, but their embrace and calm departure shattered when the young boy…
