The Jill Wells Case: Did Her 6 Year Old Son Accidentally Shoot Her?

Jill Wells (37) was the type of nurse you truly hope to receive if there is ever an emergency situation unfolding in your life. She worked in the intensive care unit and thrived at her job. Not only did her tender, kind-hearted nature allow her to really offer genuine comfort to worried patients, but it also created many friendships with co-workers for her. When her friends at the hospital learned of the events that happened to Jill, many of them described it as a losing a family member.

On March 28th, 2001, Jill (37) planned for a day of shooting guns with her husband, Mike Wells, and 6-year-old son, Tanner. However, around 2pm, Mike placed a panicked 911 call:

Operator: “What’s wrong?”

Mike: *inaudible* “… just accidentally shot my wife.”

Operator: “Oh now hang on — hang on here with me, OK?”

Mike: “Just do something. Could you send some help for me? I got two little boys in…
