On February 2nd, 2018, LaToya Watkins picked up her son, Kevon Watkins (16), from a day at school. It was quite clear that he was in a negative mood, but also very unclear what it was about. At home, he hopped onto his video game console to distract his mind.

As he attempted to slay zombies and clicked away on his controller, the game lagged due to slow connection. Other people in the home, including his mother, 13-year-old sibling, and 20-year-old sister, Alexus Watkins, were using the wifi.

In an attempt to fix the connection issue, he went into the settings and changed the password. His mother noticed the random change and unplugged the router causing Kevon to storm in her room. His initial negative mood amplified into a scary scene on the verge of violence. As Kevon yelled at his mother inside of her room, Alexus entered to defend her. After all, she was the older sister that helped raise her younger siblings and her words typically packed just as much punch as LaToya’s.
