Family Feud Guest Turned Murderer?!
[Quincy, Illinois]
Family Feud is a family-themed game show that brings many people together. Whether it be the host, Steve Harvey’s, humor or all the different guests that make an appearance, it’s been a super popular and intriguing show for decades. However, Family Feud gained different notoriety for a more sinister reason in 2023.
Timothy Bliefnick (40) appeared on the Family Feud show with his family. Within the show, guests are asked to answer a series of funny questions. Points are earned based on how well their personal answer matched a survey answer. On the show, Steve Harvey made his way down toward Tim and asked him one question, “What was the biggest mistake you made at your wedding?” Tim smirked, turned toward the camera and clarified that he apologized to his wife before answering “saying I do.” The crowd busted out in laughter as Tim clapped, pretty satisfied with his answer, yet no one knew how serious he actually was.
Tim was married to a caring traveling nurse named Becky (41). The two shared three children together and appeared pretty happy at quick glance. Nonetheless, there were heated problems in the marriage that led to Tim filing for a divorce in January of 2021.
Becky had a valid reason to fear Tim due to past abuse and the fact he was armed with a firearm. Becky was initially hesitant to pursue a restraining order against him because of the combination of Tim’s temper and his access to guns. Although their feelings for each other were quickly transforming from love to irritation, their bond with their children stayed strong — so strong that a fierce custody battle ensued. Both parents wanted more time with the children. Becky confided in a friend through text message that she believe Tim would attempt to take the children at some point. She also later said she felt Tim would freak out if he didn’t get his way.
In December of 2021, Becky mustered up the courage to file an order of protection against Tim’s father, Ray. Shortly after filing the order, she texted her sister specifying, “If something ever happens to me, make sure the number one person of interest is Tim. I’m putting this in writing that I’m fearful that he will somehow harm me.”
In August of 2022, the court ordered that the children be evenly exchanged between Becky and Tim. There was an element of safety outlined in the order as well stating that both parties must stay within 3 feet of their cars when dropping off the children. Despite these rules, Becky knew tensions were still rising. She just didn’t know Tim’s exact moves.
In the beginning of 2023, Tim created a fake Facebook page under the name “John Smith” looking for a bicycle to purchase.
Tim also messaged his neighbor asking if he had any security cameras facing toward his home.
In the early morning hours of February 13th, 2023, Tim turned off his phone and a watch that tracked his movements. Then he rode his newly purchased bicycle past Becky’s home as she slept next to her new boyfriend. Tim noticed the new vehicle in her driveway and spent a few minutes on Google trying to research the license plate. Eight days later, around 2 in the morning, Tim rode the same bicycle past Becky’s house again — most likely establishing a route and plan.
On February 22nd, 2023, Tim rode the blue bicycle over to Becky’s home for the last time. He broke inside after Googling how to use a crowbar on a window. When he came face to face with his ex-wife, he shot her 14 separate times all over her body. Tim quickly pedaled away on his bicycle and continued with his day until it was time for his children to attend school. As they participated in their classes, Tim called the school and explained that he didn’t want them walking to Becky’s house that day. Instead, he would pick them up. His Google searches continued as he typed, “how to wash off gunpowder” and “average police response time.”
Later that day, he took it upon himself to text Becky’s father asking why she hadn’t replied to him about exchanging the boys. His text message prompted Becky’s father to drive to her home and ultimately discover her bullet-riddled body.
An investigation inside Tim’s home revealed identical shell casings found at the crime scene. There was surveillance camera evidence of Tim discarding the bicycle. Becky’s DNA was also found inside a plastic bag in his home. Importantly, there were little pieces of places all around the crime scene, suggesting that Tim used a bag over the gun in an attempt to silence it. This discovery also confirmed to the police that they were on the correct track when it came to uncovering the shooter.
On March 13th, 2023, Tim Bliefnick was arrested and charged with two counts of first degree murder and home invasion. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Despite a load of solid evidence stacked against him, Tim still claims he is innocent and didn’t kill Becky.
